On Thursday, the Gurugram Police apprehended a 24-year-old man in relation to an extortion call made to Elvish Yadav, the winner of Big Boss OTT 2.
Elvish had filed a complaint on Wednesday after receiving WhatsApp messages demanding approximately ₹40 lakh, and later, ₹1 crore. The police, in their investigation, unveiled the suspected motive behind the extortion. In a statement, ACP Crime Branch, Varun Dahiya, mentioned, “Working in conjunction with the Gujarat Police, Gurugram Police arrested Shakir Makrani, a resident of Vadnagar. He was influenced by Yadav and devised this extortion plan to earn money.”

Elvish Yadav, hailing from Gurugram, gained immense popularity since his YouTube debut. He manages two YouTube channels with approximately 14.5 and 4.75 million subscribers, respectively.
Recently, he emerged victorious in the second season of the Bigg Boss OTT show, triumphing over Abhishek Malhan in the finale and securing the winner's trophy along with ₹25 lakh. Earlier this month, due to negative PR claims, Elvish expressed his desire to part ways with the winner's trophy. He shared in a vlog, “I don’t want this negativity in life. I am content with my work and aim to earn money for my new house, properties, and cars. If anyone desires this trophy, kindly message me, and I will gladly send it. I am done with all of this now.”
